Kinhaven Music School

This 50 year old summer music school located in a bucolic, rural setting engaged us to develop a master plan for the campus. The planning study began with an analysis of all the existing structures and engaged the Board of Trustees in a discussion of priorities, focusing on replacement of dilapidated structures, code issues, respect for Kinhaven traditions, enhancement of the campus landscape and improvement of the quality of the Kinhaven experience. The recommended improvements are being implemented in a phased construction process.  Repeatable modules for student cabins and bathhouses were developed that are comfortable, efficient, cost effective and durable.  The student cabins are stepped to the contours of their wooded sites while faculty cabins form a small cluster focused on an open lawn.  Long range plans include additional student cabins, a new dining hall and concert hall.
