An in-town prairie style house was extensively renovated and reconfigured for a retired couple planning to age in place. The renovated house was designed to be accessible but not institutional. The character of the existing structure was embraced and complimented with flexible uses for all rooms in mind. The terrace located at the top of a steep bank and extensive windows connect the home to an adjacent nature preserve. Primary spaces were reconfigured and layered to provide an open plan with natural light that allows a modestly sized home feel expansive.
