The owners of an historic 1920’s Coconut Grove home and existing tropical garden acquired two adjacent houses which allowed the creation of a fully integrated property. A new entry to the combined property was created through the reconstruction of one house as a home office and guest house linked to a new three car garage by a gracious drive-through arch. A second derelict house was demolished to create a new Mediterranean style garden. Working closely with the owner and landscape architects, we designed a focal pavilion and the detailing of stone arches, pergolas, enclosing walls, reflecting pool as well as paths and stairs that connect to the existing garden. The new work is beautifully sympathetic to the original Mediterranean style house and provides a stunning setting for the family’s activities from charitable events to morning coffee.
