Andrew Garthwaite, AIA
Andrew grew up in the Upper Valley. He is a graduate of Haverford College and the Yale University School of Architecture. He practiced architecture in London before returning to the Upper Valley. He is licensed in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Andrew values New England’s buildings and landscape and seeks to reinforce the character of place in each design. His approach to sustainable design has developed from a continuing interest in climate responsive design and is integrated into every project.
Andrew enjoys history, art and culture, particularly through the histories of New Hampshire and Vermont’s towns. He discovered the pleasures of gardening from his parents and while living in Iran and England. He enjoys practicing gardening craft and design at home in Lebanon NH, at a community garden plot, leading a team at St Thomas in Hanover and in a garden of potted plants on the office porch.
Andrew has been involved with many Upper Valley non-profits, serving in executive positions on the boards of AVA Gallery, Opera North, Lebanon Opera House, Twin Pines Housing Trust, North Country Community Theatre and St Thomas Episcopal Church. When not at the office, you may find him in the garden or at a cultural event.
