Mid-Century Renovation

An in-town prairie style house was extensively reconfigured for a retired couple who planned to age in place. The renovated house is designed to be accessible without appearing to be institutional, as the original character of the existing structure was embraced and complemented with flexible uses for all rooms. Primary spaces now inhabit an open plan with natural light that allows a modestly sized home to feel expansive. Large windows, along with a terrace located at the top of a steep bank, connect the home to an adjacent nature preserve.
