Mt. Philo Cottage
A 1920s summer cottage had been enlarged to become a year-round home, but without a coherent plan. With the redesign, the first floor was reprogramed to improve internal circulation and to provide access to a terrace and porch that offer stunning views of the Green Mountains, Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. The project included the creation a large open kitchen, family room, walk-in pantry, guest suite, master suite, bathrooms and porch with an outdoor fireplace, to extend the use of the porch into the winter. Finishes were replaced throughout the house. The mechanical systems were updated and the house was brought up to current requirements for energy efficiency, comfort and structural integrity.
