Antique Cape

Antique Cape

This home was designed around a hand-hewn timber frame and sited at the top of a meadow with views of the Green Mountains. Bricks, a timber frame, doors and granite foundation stones were salvaged from a nearby 1820 farmhouse. The open living room, dining room and kitchen in the central cape provide an informal link between communal and private spaces. Wood shingle siding wraps the thermal envelope of stress skin panels. Stone walls, gardens and thoughtful grading allow this home to nestle comfortably into its rural setting.
