Hilltop Net Zero

Hilltop Net Zero

This new residence combines traditional design with efficient systems and a high-performance building envelope to reimagine the appearance of a net-zero energy home. The front of the house resembles a Federal style farmhouse while the large rear windows focus on views and the southern exposure. Locally sourced materials, including birch floors, slate tile, pine trim and Vermont granite counters, were used for their connection to place, beauty and support of the local economy. A 9 KW photovoltaic array installed on the south side of the roof provides more energy than the house uses, exceeding the net-zero energy goal.
